The official opening of the Heads and Deputies of Human Resource Management and Development Units
Human Resource Directors and their Deputies in Ministries/Departments have been called upon to work together to ensure seamless implementation of Government policies for effective service delivery.
In his keynote address during the official opening of the Heads and Deputies of Human Resource Management and Development Units workshop at the Rift valley Institute of Science and Technology in Nakuru County, Public Service Principal Secretary, Mr. Amos Gathecha said that HR plays a critical role in enhancing service delivery to the citizenry and therefore officers charged with the mandate of leading HR directorates should work harmoniously to ensure effective service delivery.
“Your coming together for this workshop is critical as it will harness your collective input on identifying challenges and policy gaps in Human Resource Management and Development and have common understanding on policy interpretation and implementation. There is need to foster a sense of family as HR Practitioners in Government” Said PS Gathecha.
The PS, further reiterated that similar workshops will be held on quarterly basis for networking, bonding and common understanding as they implement HR policies and procedures as released to the Service from time to time.
In her remarks, Mrs. Mary Maungu, Secretary HRM, State Department for Public Service underscored the need for continuous engagement with HR practitioners to discuss existing gaps in policy formulation and implementation for effective delivery of services to the citizenry.
The objective of the workshop is to discuss key Human Resource matters affecting public service performance and productivity namely; Training and scholarships for MDAs, Unified Human Resource System and Payroll Management, Labour Relations; Mind Education Training Programme; Mental Health and Wellness and Public Service Transformation among other issues.
