Welcome to the Official Portal for Kenya’s APSD 2026 Celebrations

Kenya is honored to join the rest of the African continent in commemorating African Public Service Day (APSD) 2026—a time to reflect, collaborate, innovate, and strengthen public institutions in service of sustainable development and improved quality of life for all citizens.

This year, under the African Union theme:

“Enhancing Public Sector Institutions and Empowering Multi-Stakeholder Partnerships to Achieve Universal Water Availability and Safe Sanitation by 2063,”

we reaffirm our commitment to building effective, accountable, and inclusive public institutions that can deliver sustainable water and sanitation services while advancing the aspirations of Agenda 2063 – The Africa We Want.

APSD 2026 – Kenya National Celebrations

Event Dates: 22nd–23rd June 2026

Venue: Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC), Nairobi.

Build up CSR exercise: a visit to local home for elderly and environmental clean up.

In line with the continental call to accelerate universal access to water and sanitation, Kenya’s APSD 2026 celebrations will bring together public servants, policy makers, development partners, academia, private sector actors, civil society organizations, and citizens to showcase innovations, share experiences, and strengthen partnerships that support sustainable service delivery.

National Highlights

1. Public Service Innovation Exhibition

Public service institutions, counties, state corporations, development partners, private sector organizations, and community groups will exhibit innovative solutions that contribute to improved water, sanitation, and public service delivery.

Exhibitions will be organized around the following thematic areas:

Technology and Digitalization
Agriculture and Food Security
Health and Public Health Services
Housing and Urban Development
Manufacturing and Value Addition
Climate Resilience and Environmental Conservation
Governance, Finance and Institutional Frameworks
Cross-Cutting Issues in Service Delivery

Special emphasis will be placed on innovations that:

Improve access to safe water and sanitation services
Promote sustainability and climate resilience
Strengthen accountability and transparency
Enhance citizen engagement and inclusion
Leverage digital technologies to improve service delivery

Outstanding innovations will be evaluated, recognized, and documented for replication and scaling across the country.

2. National Convention on Water, Sanitation and Public Sector Transformation

A high-level forum bringing together policymakers, practitioners, researchers, development partners, and citizens to deliberate on the future of public service and sustainable water governance.

Key discussions will focus on:

The future of public service as a catalyst for sustainable water availability and safe sanitation systems
Ensuring clean and reliable water supply for all Kenyans
Addressing climate change impacts such as droughts and floods that affect water availability
Expanding safe sanitation and hygiene services, especially in rural and underserved areas
Supporting economic growth, agriculture, health, housing, and industrialization through improved water management
Advancing Agenda 2063 through strengthened public institutions and partnerships

The convention will also feature country case studies, technical panels, policy dialogues, and knowledge-sharing sessions aligned with the APSD 2026 sub-themes.

3. Multi-Stakeholder Partnership Forums

Recognizing that universal access to water and sanitation cannot be achieved by government alone, APSD 2026 will host dedicated partnership forums bringing together:

National and County Governments
Water Service Providers
Development Partners
Civil Society Organizations
Private Sector Actors
Research and Academic Institutions
Community-Based Organizations

These forums will provide opportunities to:

Strengthen collaboration and coordination
Mobilize resources and financing
Share expertise and best practices
Establish strategic partnerships
Promote community-centered approaches to service delivery

The forums are expected to generate concrete commitments and collaborative actions that will continue beyond the APSD celebrations.

4. Community Engagement and Outreach Activities

APSD 2026 will promote citizen participation through public awareness campaigns, community outreach programs, educational forums, and youth engagement activities focused on water, sanitation, hygiene, and public service excellence.

5. Recognition of Excellence

Outstanding institutions, partnerships, and individuals will be recognized during the APSD Awards Ceremony on 24th June 2026 for excellence, innovation, and impact in water and sanitation service delivery. Their achievements will inspire best practices and continuous improvement across the public sector.
