Induction For Newly Appointed Clerical Officers

Public Service PS Dr. Jane Kere Imbunya Welcomes Newly Appointed Clerical Officers with Induction Exercise in Kitui - 21st May, 2025

A new cohort of Clerical Officers II, CSG 13, was officially inducted into the Public Service today at a ceremony held at the Kitui Multipurpose Development Centre. The induction marks a pivotal moment for the newly appointed officers drawn from various Ministries and State Departments.

The event was presided over by Dr. Jane Kere Imbunya, Principal Secretary for Public Service and Human Capital Development, who emphasized the importance of induction in shaping a competent and committed workforce.

“Today is not just about a ceremony; it is about laying the foundation for your journey as public servants,” said Dr. Imbunya. "This is where the values, knowledge, and expectations that define a successful public servant begin.”

The induction is a mandatory and structured process conducted within the first three months of an officer’s appointment, in accordance with the Human Resource Development Policy for the Public Service (June 2015).

The program aims to provide the officers with:

          A deep understanding of their Ministry or State Department’s operational framework;

          Exposure to national development strategies including Vision 2030, the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda, and relevant Medium-Term Plans (MTPs);

          Familiarity with ethical guidelines, codes of conduct, and the broader public service culture.

The expected outcomes of the induction include enhanced professional competence, clarity of roles and responsibilities, and alignment with public service values such as teamwork, integrity, and a commitment to the public good.

Dr. Imbunya encouraged the officers to engage fully with the training, highlighting their critical role in improving service delivery and contributing meaningfully to the nation’s development. "As public servants, we have a shared responsibility to build a stronger, more inclusive, and more effective public service,” she concluded.

The PS exuded confidence in the ability of the officers to rise to the occasion and become valuable contributors to our national vision.
