Hon. J.B. Muturi, CS Public Service opens the Inaugural Africa School of Government Conference in Mombasa

Cabinet Secretary Ministry of Public Service and Human Capital Development inaugurates the 1st Africa School of Government Conference in Mombasa, uniting Visionaries for a transformative Future.
In his speech during the first Regional Conference on the Africa School of Government, held at the Kenya School of Government (KSG) Mombasa today, Cabinet Secretary Hon. Justin B. Muturi emphasized the AU Agenda 2063's vision of educating and skilling Africa for the 21st century. He praised KSG and Management Development Institutions (MDIs) for their role in providing learning and development programs to strengthen public officers' management and operational capacities across Kenya, the region, and the continent.
Hon. Muturi highlighted the need for a unified premier institution that develops curricula to achieve excellence in Africa’s public service. He stressed the urgency of training top policy and political leaders, such as Cabinet Secretaries, Principal Secretaries, and CEOs, through systematic induction and leadership development programs. He further stated that leaders must show allegiance to governments, provide honest policy advice, support administrative decisions, explain policies, and deliver efficient public services.
KSG is recognized as a pivotal institution at the intersection of politics and public service, equipped to address Africa's leadership challenges by combining cutting-edge research, training, and practical engagement. The CS expressed optimism about the future impact of MDIs and Schools of Government, following the conference, and called for unity in transforming Africa’s public service. He encouraged attendees to contribute their talents towards making the public service more just, humane, prosperous, and peaceful.
The CS in his closing remarks commended the conference's efforts and expressing pride in KSG and similar institutions that promote continuous learning, evidence-based research, and impactful engagement for the betterment of public service in Africa.
