CS Public Service Steers Huduma Kenya into Strategic Partnership with Azerbaijan's ASAN Service Center in Baku

At COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan, Hon. JB Muturi Cabinet Secretary for Public Service and Human Capital Development, explored a promising partnership with Hon. Ulvi Mehdiyev, Minister and Chairman of the State Agency for Public Service and Social Innovations of Azerbaijan. During a firsthand tour of ASAN Service Center’s state-of-the-art facilities, CS Muturi and his delegation were impressed by the high standard of service accessibility and efficiency offered to Azerbaijani citizens. ASAN provides over 600 services under one roof, setting a benchmark that significantly exceeds the 157 services available through Kenya’s Huduma Kenya platform.

With a shared goal of improving service delivery for Kenyan citizens, CS Muturi and Minister Mehdiyev focused on four key priorities for collaboration:

  1. Nationwide Huduma Center Expansion: They explored exciting possibility of establishing Huduma Centers in each of Kenya’s 290 constituencies, ensuring that essential government services are accessible to all.
  2. Empowering Huduma Kenya with Resources: Recognising the need for robust support, they considered the technical, financial, and logistical resources required to expand Huduma Kenya’s capabilities and meet growing demands.
  3.  On boarding More Services: the team laid out a road-map to broaden Huduma Kenya’s range of services, aiming to enhance convenience and dignify the citizen experience.
  4. Transforming Customer Service Excellence: Drawing from ASAN’s model, they discussed elevating Huduma Kenya’s customer service framework to incorporate best practices, improving responsiveness and citizen satisfaction.

Hon Muturi was accompanied by H.E. Amb. Sultan Hajiyev, Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Kenya, and Mr. Benjamin Kai Chilumo, CEO  Huduma Kenya . Through this partnership, the Cabinet Secretary aims to redefine public service delivery in Kenya inspired by global best practices yet tailored to meet the unique needs of the Kenyan people.
