Opening of customer service week.
The 2023 Customer Service Week was officially opened today by the Principal Secretary, State Department for Public Service Mr. Amos Gathecha at a colorful event held at Huduma Centre GPO which also celebrated 10 years of service delivery to citizens since inception.
In his keynote address the Principal Secretary commended Huduma Kenya Staff for their Commitment and passion in serving Kenyans, as ‘Service to People is Service to God’. He said the Public Service plays a strategic role in the implementing public sector transformation reforms and Government development priorities which makes this years’ ‘team service’ theme essential to achieve a service that is transparent, accountable, effective, and efficient and which adheres to the highest standards of professional ethics.
The Huduma Kenya Service Delivery Programme is a comprehensive, government-wide collaboration where all Ministries, Counties, Departments and Agencies work collectively toward a shared objective: delivering accessible, efficient, effective, and customer-centric government services. In recognition of the Digital transformation happening in Public Service. The Principal Secretary thanked Public Servants for working hard to innovate and Digitalize Government services by making them accessible and available to Kenyans anywhere, anytime which aligns with the Government Bottom-up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).
To effectively bridge the digital skill gap, the Principal Secretary said that Huduma Kenya shall continue to be the frontline support system for the Digital Government Services through the 52 Huduma Centres, Huduma Mashinani and Huduma Contact Centre. Therefore he urged all staff at the Huduma Centres to fully understand all services uploaded on the E-citizen platform to enable them to support any citizen who visits the Huduma Centres. This is besides their normal Huduma services they continue to support including those that are not yet digitized and those that cannot be fully digitalized and therefore require in-person assistance.
For Sub-county Huduma Centres, the PS said the Ministry is collaborating with NG-CDF to explore the possibility of funding the construction of the sub county centres.
The Principal Secretary appealed to citizens to continue accessing government services at all offices across Huduma Centres, Huduma Mashinani, Huduma Contact Centre and Tele-counseling centre.
In her remarks, Ms Veronica Nduva, the Principal Secretary for Gender and Affirmative Action commended the Huduma Kenya Staff for their excellent service in Huduma centres especially in matters counselling through tele-counselling centres and addressing the issue of Gender based violence and also in empowerment of women through the Women Enterprise Fund which is now among the many services that are currently offered by Huduma centres.
