PS Jane Imbunya Defends FY 2026/2027 Budget Estimates Before Labour Committee

Principal Secretary, State Department for Public Service and Human Capital Development, Dr. Jane Imbunya, accompanied by Heads of Departments (HODs) from the Ministry and its agencies, today appeared before the Departmental Committee on Labour to present and defend the FY 2026/2027 Budget Estimates during a session held at 11:30 a.m. and chaired by Honourable Kiti Richard Ken Chonga.

During the session, Dr. Jane Imbunya defended the FY 2026/2027 budget estimates and shed light on the variances between the Budget Policy Statement (BPS) ceilings and the actual budget allocations.

Among the pertinent questions raised by the Committee was the need for the State Department to identify and explain significant deviations between the Ministry, Department and Agency (MDA) budget estimates and the approved 2026 BPS ceilings.

In her presentation, the PS also highlighted the latest budget implementation status, project information including cumulative expenditure and project completion status, the list of new projects together with their justifications, as well as information on the current stock status and related budgetary implications.

The PS concluded by affirming that the FY 2026/2027 budget estimates are aligned with the Government’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA). She further appealed to the Committee to support the State Department in addressing pertinent challenges affecting the attainment of its performance targets, particularly funding and operational constraints.
