PS IMBUNYA: MORE HUDUMA CENTRES COMING TO BRING SERVICES CLOSER TO KENYANS
The State Department for Public Service Principal Secretary, Dr. Jane Kere Imbunya, has reaffirmed government’s commitment to taking services closer to citizens through expansion of Huduma Centres across the country.
Dr. Imbunya said plans are underway to establish 10 new Huduma Centres on top of the existing 52 fully functional centres.
She made the remarks when she received a progress briefing from the Huduma Secretariat’s top management team on the status of ongoing construction works and refurbishment of selected centres.
According to the PS, the new facilities set to open before the end of the current financial year include Runyenjes, Kilifi, Malindi, Molo and Maua, among others. Refurbishment works on several existing centres have also been completed as part of efforts to boost efficiency and improve customer experience.
Dr. Imbunya noted that taking government services closer to the common mwananchi is not only key to improving access and convenience, but is also aligned to the BETA agenda which seeks to transform public service delivery through people-centred and technology-driven solutions.
Huduma Centres have become a central pillar in modernising service delivery in Kenya by offering a one-stop platform for key government services.
The model has eased the burden on citizens by reducing bureaucracy, cutting processing time and lowering the cost of accessing services such as National IDs, birth certificates, KRA services, SHA, NSSF and NTSA licences.
The centres have also played a major role in advancing digital transformation through integration with systems such as eCitizen, promoting digital literacy and strengthening data management.
As government continues to modernise the public sector, Huduma Centres remain among the most impactful initiatives ensuring faster, transparent and citizen-friendly service delivery across the country.
