Africa Transformation Leadership Conference Kicks Off in Nairobi

State Department for Public Service and Human Capital Development Principal Secretary Dr. Jane Kere Imbunya has today presided over the opening of the Africa Transformation Leadership Conference in Nairobi.

Hosted by the Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM) in partnership with K2 Career Centre, the conference is themed: “Rooted and Rising: Powering Growth Through Authentic Transformational Leadership for Africa.”

A central focus of the conference is how African cultural heritage and values can inspire leadership approaches that are inclusive, ethical, and transformative. Throughout the event, delegates will engage in dynamic discussions on key topics such as ethical governance, gender equity, and digital inclusion.

In her keynote address, Dr. Imbunya emphasized that Africa's development cannot depend solely on infrastructure or economic growth.

“The realization of Agenda 2063 demands a new kind of leadership—one deeply rooted in integrity, community, and innovation,” she stated.

She urged leaders to critically assess and evolve their leadership models in response to the continent’s rapidly changing socio-economic environment.

The conference is designed not only to inform but also to ignite a new generation of visionary leaders.

“We want leaders who will champion resilience, sustainability, and unity across borders,” said CHRP Quresha Abdullahi, Executive Director of IHRM.

Delegates from Kenya, Uganda, Nigeria, Rwanda, and Tanzania expressed their commitment to applying the insights gained at the conference within their own institutions and communities.

Dr. Imbunya concluded by saying that “Africa’s future lies in the hands of leaders courageous enough to be authentic, collaborative enough to be inclusive, and bold enough to drive transformation from the grassroots to the global stage.”
